If you’re working your way through the endgame of Path of Exile 2, you already know the struggle: you want to run Breachstones, but getting enough Breach Splinters to actually build them feels like a massive grind. If you’re just opening random Breaches and hoping for the best, you’re going to end up with a trickle of splinters.

To really get a steady stream of them, you need to adjust your setup. It comes down to optimizing your Atlas Passive Tree, picking the right maps, and changing how you actually play inside the Breach itself. Here is a practical guide to maximizing your Breach Splinter drops in PoE 2.

Maximize Your Atlas Passive Tree

Your Atlas Tree is the single most important factor when it comes to multiplying your splinter drops. If your tree isn't set up for it, you're missing out on the majority of your potential loot. When you're farming specifically for splinters, you'll want to allocate your points into these key nodes:

• Waking Nightmare: This one is absolutely mandatory. It gives Clasped Hands a 60% chance to drop double Breach Splinters. Because hands are your main source of raw splinters, this node single-handedly carries your farm.

• Grasping Hands: This spawns 30% more hands per Breach and gives them a 20% chance to be guarded by magic monsters. More hands mean more direct loot, and the extra magic monsters mean more experience and items.

• Crumbling Walls: This adds a random chance to spawn up to 11 Breaches in a single map. When this procs, it turns your map into a massive splinter goldmine.

• Frantic Invasion: This boosts overall Breach monster splinter drops by a massive 75%. The catch is that it increases the damage you take while inside the Breach, so make sure your defenses can handle the spike in danger.

Quick Tip: If your sole focus is getting splinters, make sure to remove Xesht's Madness from your tree. While it sounds cool, it shifts the focus toward dropping Catalysts, which actually hurts your consistent, raw splinter stacks.

The Map Tier "Sweet Spot": Tier 12 and 13

It’s tempting to think that you should just run the highest-tier maps you can handle, but that’s not always the most efficient route for Splinter farming.

Splinter drop rates are noticeably low if you are running anything below Tier 11. On the other end of the spectrum, Tier 15 maps give great high-end loot, but the monsters take much longer to kill. For the absolute best balance of monster density and raw clear speed, Tier 12 and Tier 13 maps are the community sweet spot. You can tear through these maps quickly without sacrificing the drop rates.

Run Wide-Open Layouts

Breaches expand in a giant circle from the center point where you activate them. If you open a Breach in a cramped space, it physically cannot spawn its maximum capacity of monsters and Clasped Hands. Walls and terrain literally "choke" your loot. Because of this, map selection is everything.

• The Best Maps: Stick to open layouts like Savannah, Bloomingfield, Sand Spit, and Steaming Springs. These areas give the Breach plenty of room to expand to its full radius.

• Maps to Avoid: Steer completely clear of Crypt, Valactory, and Seepage, or any other layout dominated by narrow hallways, tight rooms, and tight ledges.

Perfect Your In-Breach Strategy

Once you’re actually inside the map and the Breach is active, how you move and what you target matters just as much as your build.

• Prioritize Hands Over Kills: Yes, you need to kill monsters to keep the Breach open longer, but don't get so distracted by the mobs that you run right past the chests. Clasped Hands provide the most consistent, guaranteed splinter drops. Make it a habit to click or run over every single hand the moment it appears on your screen.

• Move Dynamically (Ride the Edge): Don’t just stand in the center waiting for monsters to come to you. Pick a direction—either clockwise or counter-clockwise—and run along the outer, expanding ring. This outer edge is where the densest monster packs spawn, allowing you to clear them out efficiently as they appear.

• Juice Your Map Affixes: Don't just run normal or magic maps. Use Alchemist Orbs and Precursor Tablets to roll your waystones for increased item quantity and an increased number of rare monsters. Rare monsters have a much higher base drop rate, meaning more splinters in your inventory by the time the Breach closes.
